Camouflage and a Hiss!

When the Peacock butterfly hibernates during winter, it is superbly camouflaged, resembling tree bark or a dead leaf. Look carefully in sheds, outbuildings, or hollow trees during winter and you may find a sleeping Peacock butterfly. If disturbed, it produces a surprising hissing sound by rubbing its wings together to frighten you!
